Rhazes space roles and permissions

What Owner, Admin, Moderator and Viewer can each do in a Rhazes space, and which actions stay with the owner alone.

The four roles

Owner. The person who created the space. Full control, including the things nobody else can do: renaming it, changing its visibility, and deleting it.

Admin. Runs the space day to day. Invites people, changes roles, removes members, approves join requests, adds and edits documents, and deletes documents and files.

Moderator. Looks after the content. Adds reference documents, uploads files, creates folders and edits what is there. Cannot invite people, cannot change roles, and cannot delete documents.

Viewer. Reads. Can browse everything in the space and use it in chats and workflows, but changes nothing. This is what everyone joining a space starts as.

The deliberate gap between Moderator and Admin

Moderator can add but not delete. That split exists because in a shared space those are very different risks. Adding a document that turns out to be wrong is a mistake somebody notices and fixes; deleting the only copy of a policy is a mistake nobody notices until the day it is needed.

Give moderator to the people maintaining content and admin to the people you would trust to remove it.

Ownership stays put

There is one owner per space, and the role cannot be assigned, transferred or removed. An admin cannot promote themselves, and the owner cannot be demoted or removed from their own space.

That is worth knowing before you build a space your department depends on, because it means the account that created it is the only one that can ever rename or delete it.

Who can invite whom

Owners and admins can send invitations, and can invite at viewer, moderator or admin level.
