Arthur Pendelton was seen for a hearing aid (HA) check of his bilateral Phonak Audéo Paradise P90-R devices. He reported intermittent static and reduced volume in the right HA over the past 2 weeks, as well as difficulty understanding speech in noisy environments.

Otoscopy: Moderate cerumen impaction observed in the right external auditory canal; left ear canal clear with intact tympanic membrane. Wax removal was recommended for the right ear and pt consent was obtained; the right ear underwent cerumen management via curette and suction, resulting in a clear canal and visualization of an intact tympanic membrane.

Both HAs were cleaned and checked, and the domes and wax traps were changed bilaterally. HA sound quality was good bilaterally upon listening check following maintenance. Ran HAs in Redux which revealed 1.2 microliters of moisture being removed.

Due to pt's concerns of difficulty hearing in background noise and right HA static, the following adjustments, changes, and recommendations were made: The overall gain in the high frequencies was increased by 2 dB bilaterally, and noise reduction settings were strengthened in the restaurant program. Pt was also instructed on proper daily brushing of the microphone ports.

It was recommended that Arthur return in 6 months for a hearing aid check which is being scheduled today. Patient was encouraged to call and return sooner if any problems or concerns arise. Pt was provided after visit summary.
