Setting up a fillable PDF form

Add the PDF as a template. It has to be a fillable PDF, meaning one with real form fields, rather than a scan or a flat document.

Rhazes reads the form and finds its fields. It then works through them to build a starting description of what each one is for, so you are correcting a draft rather than labelling every field from scratch. On a long form this takes a moment, and Rhazes shows progress while it runs.

What you set for each field

• Name this field. What the field is, in words that mean something. PDF field names are often codes like Text12, which tell Rhazes nothing.
• Instructions. How to fill it accurately: what to draw on, what format to use, what to do when the information is missing.
• Always fill with this value. Optional. For a field that never changes, such as your organisation's name or a fixed code, set the value here and Rhazes stops trying to work it out.

Spend the effort where it matters

A long form has fields that matter and fields that do not. Search the field list rather than scrolling, and concentrate on the ones that get filled wrongly.

Every field you pin to a fixed value is one that can never be filled wrongly, and one less thing to check on every form.
