    Therapeutic Interventions

Utilized person-centered therapy (PCT) combined with CBT cognitive restructuring techniques for GAD. Applied core Rogerian principles of unconditional positive regard, empathetic understanding, and congruence to establish a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment. Responded to the pt's expressions of workplace overwhelm and somatic anxiety using active listening, reflective statements, and validation of affect. Session focused on identifying catastrophic automatic thoughts triggered by occupational stressors and exploring underlying perfectionistic beliefs. Objectives were to reduce acute autonomic arousal, enhance insight into cognitive distortions, and foster self-compassion alongside existing pharmacotherapy (sertraline (Zoloft®) 100 mg PO daily).

Assessment of Patient's Response to Therapeutic Interventions

Pt responded positively to the supportive therapeutic setting, visibly relaxing posture within the first 15 mins. Demonstrated high participation, actively engaging in thought-challenging exercises. Initially guarded when discussing perceived professional failures, pt grew increasingly comfortable and communicative following empathetic validation. The intervention effectively reduced acute distress; pt successfully reframed two primary catastrophic thoughts and reported decreased subjective anxiety by session end. Demonstrated intact capacity to transition out of the session, appearing grounded and euthymic at 14:50 America/Chicago. Pt expressed strong motivation for continuing treatment, viewing the combined psychotherapy and medication approach as beneficial. Future sessions (next scheduled 24/10/2023) will build on this progress by introducing behavioral experiments around boundary-setting at work.
